Owner payments and recipients
Pay owners their distributions from Accountable using recipients, bill pay, and payout uploads.
Owners are recipients, like vendors. Pay them one at a time, in batches from your PMS payout files, or through bill pay with approvals.
Set up owners as recipients
- Go to Payments > Recipients.
- Click Invite to have the owner enter their own bank details, or Add Recipient to enter them yourself.
- Set the Role to Owner so owners are easy to filter and find.
We recommend inviting. Owners enter their own details on a secure page, so your team never handles their account numbers. See Vendors and onboarding.
Pay owners from a payout file
If your PMS produces payout files, you can turn a whole payout run into bills at once:
- OwnerRez: click Upload OwnerRez Payouts on the Payments page.
- Track: click Upload an ACH File (Beta) on the Payments page.
Each payout is matched to a recipient. Matched payouts become bills ready for review, and unmatched ones become drafts you can finish by choosing the recipient. From there, approve and schedule them like any other bill. See Adding a bill.
Pay an owner one time
For a single distribution, use Move Money > Pay Someone, or open the owner's recipient record and click Send Money.
Pay from the right account
Owner distributions usually come from the account you use for owner funds. When you schedule a payment, choose that account as the source.
Recording owner payouts
Owner payouts show in your accounting review queue on the Payouts tab. You can code each payout to a Customer and Invoice in your accounting system before syncing.
Keeping recipients current
- Use the Recipients list search and Last Paid column to find inactive owners.
- If a payment is returned, click Request New Bank Details on the recipient. See ACH returns and cancellations.
- Click Export on the Recipients page to download your recipient list.
Tip: Turn on Automatic Recipient Reminders in Settings > Account > Payments so owners who haven't finished onboarding get reminded before payout day.
