Storage locations

Set up the closets, warehouses, and vehicles where you keep supplies.

A location is anywhere you keep stock: an owner closet, a central warehouse, or a maintenance van. Every unit of inventory lives at a location.

Add a location

  1. Go to Inventory > Locations.
  2. Click Add Location.
  3. Enter a Name, such as "Main Warehouse" or "Van 2."
  4. Optionally add an address: Address line 1, Address line 2, City, State, and Postal code.
  5. Save.

The default location

One location is your default. New stock lands there when no location is chosen, including imports, bill receipts, and purchase order receipts. It's also preselected for sales and transfers.

To change it, open a location and click Mark as default. The default location can't be deleted.

See what's in a location

Open a location to see Items in this location with quantities. To see a single item across all locations, open it from Items.

Edit or delete a location

Open the location and click Edit Location to change its name or address.

To delete a location, open it and choose delete. If the location still holds stock, the delete is blocked until you transfer the stock out or zero the counts.

Moving stock between locations

  1. Go to Inventory > Items and open the item, or use Log a transfer.
  2. Choose the source location, the destination location, and the quantity.
  3. Save.

Transfers move stock from one location to another. Nothing is charged and nothing syncs. Transfers need at least two locations.

Field staff can also log transfers from a text link. See Charging items to properties.

Tip: Create a location for each vehicle that carries supplies, so you can see what a tech used on the road.
