Accountable accounts overview
Your operating and trust accounts in Accountable: what they are, where to find them, and how they work.
Accountable accounts are financial accounts held in your company's name. Accountable is not a bank or a money transmitter. Accountable partners with Stripe Payments Company for money transmission services and account services with funds held at Fifth Third Bank N.A., Member FDIC. Use your accounts to hold operating funds or owner funds, pay vendors and owners, and receive incoming payments, with each transaction captured in Accountable.
Where to find your accounts
Go to Accounts in the left navigation. You'll see:
- Accountable accounts: each account's name, balance, and recent activity.
- Total Available Balance across your accounts.
- Pending Inbound Transfers and Pending Outbound Transfers.
- Linked accounts: your external bank accounts.
Click an account to see its Account Number, Routing Number, account holder, and bank address. Use Click to copy to grab numbers for a payroll provider, PMS, or payment processor. Turn on Show closed to include closed accounts.
Operating and trust accounts
Many property managers keep separate accounts for different purposes, such as:
- An operating account for company expenses and vendor payments
- A trust account for owner funds and owner payouts
Each account has its own account and routing number, so incoming and outgoing funds stay separated. If you need an additional account, contact support@accountablevr.com.
Receiving money
Share an account's routing and account numbers to receive ACH transfers or wires, for example payouts from your PMS or payment processor. Incoming funds appear in Transactions and in your accounting review queue on the Deposits tab.
Mapping to your general ledger
Each account should be tied to a bank account in your accounting system. Open the account on the Accounts page and choose the G/L account. Transactions post against this account, and the other side comes from how you code each transaction.
Statements
Monthly statements for each account are available in Documents > Statements. Click download on any statement period.
Limits
Your account has a maximum amount per outbound payment and per outbound transfer. You can see them in Settings > Account > Limits. Contact support if you need them changed.
FDIC pass-through insurance eligibility
USD balances in Accountable accounts can be eligible for FDIC pass-through deposit insurance if they meet certain requirements. The accounts are eligible only to the extent permitted by the rules and regulations of the FDIC, and if the requirements for pass-through insurance are satisfied. The FDIC insurance applies up to 250,000 USD per depositor, per financial institution, for deposits held in the same ownership category. Neither Accountable (Hostfi Inc.) nor Stripe is an FDIC-insured institution, and the FDIC's deposit insurance coverage only protects against the failure of an FDIC-insured depository institution.
If your state has rules for how property managers hold owner or guest funds, confirm those rules with your advisor before using an account for owner funds.
Tip: Name your accounts clearly, such as "Operating" and "Owner Trust," so your team always picks the right one when paying.
